Time to bring you some awesome Retro Game Rumors. Now some of these aren't completely fact checked,so they might be just pure speculation. Regardless,you will find these interesting. So let's get on with the show.

Mighty Morphin' 32X Rangers

In 1995,Banpresto made plans for a Sega 32X version of 'Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: The Movie'. However,they quit production when they saw what an abysmal failure the 32X was.

The game was supposed to be a graphically enhanced version of it's Sega Genesis Counterpart,with better sounding music. Banpresto had no plans to make a Sega Saturn version of this game.

Simon Belmont...Ninja Turtle?

There are rumors that Konami was gonna put Simon Belmont(from the Castlevania games)in the Japanese Version of 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2'. There was also rumored that the famous Vampire Killer was gonna be in the Japanese version of 'TMNT 1' as well.

Konami has denied this.

Lost Wrestlers

Diesel and Adam Bomb wese Supposed to be characters in 'WWE Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game'. But Acclaim scrapped them due to lack of space and time.

On a similar note,Jake "The Snake" Roberts and Savio Vega were supposed to be hidden characters in 'WWE In Your House'. Unfortunately,they never made it in. The game contains no hidden characters.

Red Ring Z2

The Red Ring was stated to make a return in 'Zelda II: The Adventure of Link'. However,there are no extra dungeons or caves for the Ring to be found. There is a possibility that the Ring could've been planned for one of the existing Palaces or Caves.

The LoZ1 Red Ring was in Ganon's Underground Maze within Death Mountain,so maybe the Z2 Red Ring was to be placed in that game's Death Mountain? There are plenty of empty caves in that area,so it's very possible.

Anyway, The reason for the Red Ring's absence is likely due to the inclusion if the 'Shield' spell,which,like the Zelda 1 Red Ring,give the player a 50% Defense increase.

Reverse Sex Discrimination and Stuff

Originally,"Double J" Jeff Jarret was considered to be part of the roster for 'WWF Raw'. However,because they didn't wanna seem too sexist,Acclaim decided to ditch Jarret in favor of a Female Wrestler. They chose Luna Vachon. Why her? Why not Alundra Blayze (aka Madusa). And Why not Include Jeff Jarret as a hidden wrestler (like they did with Kwang in the 32x version).

Anyway, Speaking of the 'WWF Raw' roster. Initially,there were gonna be different ones for each console version (kinda like what they did for 'WWF Super Wrestlemania' and 'WWF Royal Rumble'). However,Acclaim decided that it would be best to have both the SNES and Genesis versions have the exact same roster.

I don't know who would've been on which roster,sorry.

Kouryuu Sentai Power Rangers

There are rumors speculating around that The Sega Genesis version of 'Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers' was originally a Zyuranger game.

The Green Ranger's attitude seem to reflect this. Tommy was never that badass,but Burai(his zyuranger counterpart) was.

For those who don't know Kouryuu Sentai Zyuranger is the show that Saban adapted for Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers.

Sheng Long

There were rumors of a hidden character in 'Street Fighter II' and 'Street Fighter II Champion Edition'.

To intensify the rumors,EGM created a mock-up for their April '92 edition. Of course this was an April Fools prank on EGM's part,but many people believed it was true...including Capcom USA. When Capcom USA told Capcom Japan about this,they were amused and clarified that there were absolutely No hidden characters in those games.

EGM themselves didn't admit that it was a gag until their December '92 issue.

Sheng Long,the hidden character,was to have all of Ryu's moves,as well as a Blazing Shoryuken. he was also stronger and faster.

Another rumor going around is that EGM's April Fool's Gag inspired Capcom Japan to create Akuma,the dark shoto that debut in 'Super Street Fighter II Turbo' as a hidden character.

Spring Beauty in Orange

Capcom Japan originally intended for Chun-Li's default costume color to be Orange instead of Blue. The proof is in her 'Street Fighter II' portrait,where her costume is orange. However this was fixed in 'Street Fighter II Champion Edition'.

In future games(starting with super street fighter II),Chun-Li gains more alternate colors to her outfit. One of which is Orange.

Final Fantasy 7's Extra Materia

Square-Enix considered adding even more Materia to the game (besides the golem materia,that is).

Those Materia were: The Super Nova (magic),Tritoch (summon),Holy(magic),Meteor(magic),Wind (magic),and Water (magic).

However this was during 'Final Fantasy 7's' planning stages and(like the golem summon)were Never implemented physically in the game(both the prototypes and the final). I don't have the reasons why.

The Super Nova Materia allowed you to cast Super Nova. This was given to Safer Sephiroth (the 2nd form of sephiroth) as an attack in the Final game.

The Tritoch Summon,The Legendary Monster from 'Final Fantasy 6' was also planned to be in this game. It would've pretty much acted the same way it did in 6.

Holy and Meteor were intended to be usable Magic Materia. But in the final game they were non-usable spells cast by Aerith and Sephiroth respectively.

The Wind and Water Materias are self-explanatory.

Final Fantasy 7's Extra Wespons

Square-Enix also planned on giving Characters more weapons.

There was A Powerful Staff for Aerith(ancient's wrath),2 Swords for Cloud (Excalibur and Jupiter blade),another Claw Weapon for Tifa(name unknown),A Glave for Cid (name unknown),and a Plasma Cannon(name unknown)for Barret.

Square-Enix also planned on creating a Masamune Sword for Cloud. And The Ancient Wrath was intended to be Aerith's Real Ultimate Weapon.

Like with the Materia,None of these weapons exist and were just concepts thought up for the Final Game.

The Silver Chocobo of Final Fantasy 7

Square-Enix wanted to add yet another type of Chocobo for the players to breed. The Silver Chocobo.

This Chocobo would've been capable of traveling underwater. However,in the 11th hour they decided Not to have the player get this Chocobo.

A Silver Chocobo Is in the Game,though. It's one of the Racing Chocobo's.

Extra Lv. 4 Limit Breaks

Square-Enix originally planned for each FF7 Hero/Heroine to have 2 Level 4 limit breaks. With Vincent and Cait Sith being the exceptions.

This never happened due to Time and Money limitations.

Sephiroth Clone Get!

There is a rumor going around in the FF7 community that Square-Enix intended you to recruit The Sephiroth Clone. As you know the Sephiroth Clone killed Aerith and taunted our Heroes though out the game.

For whatever reason,the clone would join your party for a while. This is just a rumor and Square-Enix has never confirmed this.

The Aerith Revival Project

Ah,the most Famous of the FF7 Rumors. According to the rumor,Square-Enix added a special 'Aerith Ressurection' side-quest to the PC version of 'Final Fantasy 7'.

This was created due to some of the fan-backlash about Aerith's death. Since it was too late to implement it in the Playstation version, Square-Enix included it in the PC version of the game.

Of course,this Rumor has long since been proven false.

Zack's Revival

In addition to the Aerith Sidequest,Square also created a Zack resurrection Sidequest for 'Final Fantasy 7 PC'.

FF1Q2

It was rumored that Square-Enix wanted to add in a Second Quest after you beat the main game in 'Final Fantasy 1'. In the 2nd Quest,you would have all of the Levels you obtained during the previous one. The Airship would be available as well.

However,due to lack of cart space,this wasn't possible for them to do. This rumor has been proven false by many.

Final Final Fantasy

Square-Enix intended to end the Main Final Fantasy Series at 8.

However,their fans pushed them to do more....and so they did. Today,The Main Final Fantasy Series is up to 15.

Capcom Japan was planning on creating a Game Boy Color port of Mega Man V GB/Rockman World 5. However,at the 11th Hour decided not to go through with the idea.

Bakusa/Boxer the Goblin

In Final Fantasy 7, There was an old rumor that there was a 3rd optional party member for you to recruit. On disk 2, there would be an opportunity to meet and recruit a friendly Goblin named Boxer. And Boxer would be faster and much more agile than most of your characters.

As his name suggests, Boxer/Bakusa is a Boxing Goblin who fights using boxing moves. His Limit Breaks include Goblin Punch, Goblin Upper, and TKO, which has a 70% chance of 1-Hit KOing an Enemy or Boss. 

You could even buy special Gloves for him in shops, once he becomes available. As to where to find him, Boxer/Bakusa could be found on one of the Islands, where he will appear as an enemy, but by using a special item, you'll be able to recruit him (similar how you get Chocobo's in this game).

Of course, this Rumor has been proven false.

Cubone's Mama is....Kangaskhan????

Rumor has it that Game Freak originally intended for the Baby Kangaskhan(the cute little creature that's in kangaskhan's pouch) to be the Pre-Evolution of Cubone. And that Khangaskahn would be an Alternate evolution for the Pokemon.

Nintendo and Gamefreak have denied this rumor.

Mixed-Up Pokemon Families

Rumor has it that The Final Evolutions of the Butterfree line and the Venomoth line were switched. It makes some sense,since Venonat (venomoth's pre-evolution) and Butterfree look similar. Same goes for Caterpie (butterfree's 1st stage evo) and Venonat.

Nintendo and Gamefreak have denied this as well.

 Super Ninja Guiden IV

Tecmo wanted to create a sequel to Ninja Guiden III for the Super NES. But for some reason they scrapped the idea and gave us 'Ninja Guiden Trilogy' instead.

On a related Note: Konami was gonna create a Super NES Metal Gear title. But decided not to at the 11th hour.

Capcom Japan originally wanted Mega Man X7 for the PS2 to be a 2D game. But due to the demand of Sony,Capcom Japan made Mega Man X7 a 3D Game with 2D sections.

The Lost WCW PPV - The Big Bang!

Wrestling has been part of my life for since as long as I can remember. So for a blast of nostalgia,Here's an article from WWE.com,all about the Last Days and the Lost PPV of WCW. I re-posted it here,because No One goes to WWE.com.

If you grabbed the second to last issue of WCW Magazine, released weeks before the final episode of Nitro, you would have seen a glimpse of what could have been. According to an advertisement on the back cover, the creation of a new WCW was already in the works. On May 6, 2001, the world would witness the relaunch of World Championship Wrestling with The Big Bang, live on pay-per-view.

The ad didn’t reveal much, but Eric Bischoff had been putting the pieces in place for months. A new commentary team had been chosen. Negotiations with TV networks like FX were ongoing. Creative plans were being pitched for top-tier, contracted competitors like Goldberg. A president and CEO were in place and they had fresh ideas for how to right the ship.

The Monday Night War wasn’t over. In fact, a new battle was about to begin, and The Big Bang marked the opening shot.

As far as the WCW locker room knew, Bischoff and his business partners only needed to cross some t’s and dot some i’s and they would own WCW. But then, the deal swerved as abruptly as the pay-per-view endings that became synonymous with WCW’s final days. What went wrong? The answer was clear from the very beginning.   

“Toward the end of 1998, around August, it started to become very apparent to me that the Time Warner conglomerate [which owned Turner Broadcasting Systems] really didn’t want WCW to survive,” Eric Bischoff told WWE.com. “It was obvious to me because of the things they were doing to us — reallocating budgets that had already been allocated and cutting budgets that had already been approved six months or a year in advance.”

Bischoff left WCW in fall 1999, but when he returned, it was clear that WCW was on borrowed time under the pending merger between Time Warner and America Online Inc.

“[WCW] wasn’t going to survive it,” Bischoff said. “I said as much to [then-president of Turner Entertainment] Brad Siegel. I simply told him, ‘You don’t really want to fix it, so why don’t you sell it while there is still something left to sell?’ ”

Siegel and Bischoff disagreed for months, which Bischoff believed was a product of Turner Entertainment’s psychology that Ted Turner didn’t sell things; he acquired them. Siegel changed course in late 2000, though, and allowed Bischoff to shop WCW, which he called the “Wall St. dog and pony show.”

This was Bischoff’s first experience raising significant funds for a multi-million-dollar sale, but he found interested partners in Brian Bedol and Steve Greenberg of Fusient Media Ventures. Bedol and Greenberg founded the Classic Sports Network in 1995, then sold it to ESPN two years later for $175 million. They knew plenty about how to brand a sports property to great success. Bischoff raised $67 million with Fusient Media Ventures to purchase WCW in late 2000, but Turner Broadcasting Systems had one major catch: TBS retained a minority interest and long-term programming rights.

“Brad Siegel was not going to sell the company unless Eric Bischoff took 10 years on TBS as part of their contract,” WCW Superstar Diamond Dallas Page said.

Bischoff admitted he looked into some other networks, but nothing came to fruition.

“I had talked to a variety of networks at that time who expressed interest in WCW, one of them being FX,” he said. “I had multiple conversations with Peter Liguori, who was running FX at the time. It never progressed to the point of making an offer, but we got very close.”

But major changes needed to be made to the brand with the pending marriage between WCW and Fusient. The couple even had a honeymoon spot picked out. No longer under the Turner umbrella, aside from the TV shows continuing to appear on Turner networks, the Atlanta-based promotion was heading west.

“The plan was that WCW would move to Las Vegas and do weekly tapings out of the Hard Rock Cafe, which was building a 3,000-square-foot arena at that time,” John Laurinaitis, formerly of WCW Creative and Production, revealed. “Part of the company would be based out of Los Angeles.”

WCW once packed the Georgia Dome for an episode of Nitro, but December’s Starrcade pay-per-view didn’t top 7,000 in attendance. That played a major part in a move to Vegas.

“We weren’t able to fill arenas like we had,” Bischoff said. “Elvis Presley once said, ‘The most interesting part of any show is the audience.’ Take the main event of WrestleMania and put it in front of 75 people and it will dramatically affect the way everyone watching feels about it. That was very true with WCW. We knew we were having a problem.”

The creative needed to take a 180-degree turn, too. From competitors lying down for pinfalls at Bash at the Beach to a match where Buff Bagwell’s mom was up for grabs, 2000 featured some of the wackiest stories in sports-entertainment history.

“We were going to shut it down for a period of time, then relaunch,” Bischoff said. “We needed a clean piece of paper to draw on. We couldn’t reach into the trash, pick out the crumbled and trampled creative — that had been WCW for the last year-and-a-half — and try to make people feel good about that again. In order for the relaunch to feel like one, it had to go away. The thinking was, let’s get people talking about the new WCW and what it was going to look like and feel like.”

While Bedol and Greenberg continued to work on the legal side of the deal, Bischoff visited confused and panicking employees at WCW’s office and focused on the future of WCW, which included the first pay-per-view under Fusient, WCW Big Bang on May 6.

“We had to plan six months in advance — minimum — with a lot of the creative,” he said. “The branding and the location of the event — the big ticket items, if you will— had to be planned six months out. Big Bang pay-per-view ads were probably pretty generic because I doubt we had it figured out at the time.”

At the same time, over in Philadelphia, Extreme Championship Wrestling was coming to its end. The Voice of ECW, Joey Styles, refused to abandon the ship, but with no ECW Hardcore TV tapings scheduled after the Guilty as Charged pay-per-view on Jan. 7, 2001, Styles began to talk with Bischoff.

“Eric sent me to meet with Brian Bedol in Manhattan to talk about what I would do for WCW,” he said. “I would be the lead announcer and I would work in digital media. I did not agree to do this with Eric until it was obvious that ECW was finished.”

Styles and Bischoff even talked about who would join him at the commentary desk.

“I suggested Don Callis, who was my color commentator for ECW pay-per-views, to Eric,” Styles said. “He and I were a very good team. I heard rumors that my other announcer was going to be Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler, who at the time was not with WWE.”

With his friend in the process of saving WCW, DDP had mixed emotions because he secretly hoped to go to WWE.

“It was really important to me, because I only had a couple of years left in my career, period,” he said. “And I wanted to end my career in WWE. But my buddy was buying the company, WCW. I can’t turn around and screw him.”

The master plan was taking shape. WCW would get a second chance, a new life. After all, Bischoff owned WCW. Didn’t he?
 
After taxiing on the runway for months, the relaunch was ready to take off. On Jan. 11, 2001, Bischoff, his business partners and Siegel hosted a conference call to announce the deal. On the 45-minute call, Siegel assured media that Turner never planned on selling WCW, but the offers poured in, including talks with WWE that he wouldn’t address. Bedol said he wouldn’t be satisfied if WCW remained the No. 2 wrestling brand in America. Bischoff believed the future looked bright for a new WCW and employees were relieved to hear the deal was done.

Variety even reported that Fusient had plans to sit down with WWE in the hopes of creating cross-company pay-per-view events, featuring the likes of Goldberg and Sting against Mick Foley and The Rock.

“It was very positive at that time because WCW wasn’t doing as well as we had hoped,” Laurinaitis remembered. “Thinking that if we move the company and a new set of owners came in and Eric was at the helm, that might spark another run like The nWo did.”

Here’s the catch. The same day as the Fusient conference call, another business deal went down. AOL announced it was purchasing Time Warner on Feb. 11, 2000, but the deal would not be completed until Jan. 11, 2001. With new owners coming in, everything would be looked at closely, especially a division that was struggling to regain footing. Analysts estimated that WCW lost between $60 and $80 million in 2000 while WWE ran away in the ratings.

While AOL Time Warner examined their assets, Fusient did the same with their impending purchase while Bischoff prepared for The Big Bang. Though the deal was announced on Jan. 11, the amount paperwork and due diligence in a transaction this massive took weeks to complete. Fusient originally predicted that the deal would be completed 45 to 60 days after the announcement. By March, though, the sale was still not official.

Meanwhile, every Monday on Nitro, WCW World Champion Scott Steiner rolled through the competition. DDP was set to his next big challenge at WCW Greed on March 18. Two days before the pay-per-view, though, Jamie Kellner — new chairman and CEO for Turner Broadcasting — and Turner Entertainment President Brad Siegel decided WCW’s fate.

“I thought that once Eric got to that spot [the deal announced but not signed], he had it done,” DDP said. “It was like when you think your daughter is getting married, you pay for everything, and you lay the whole thing out, then the groom doesn’t show up.”

On March 20, 2001, WCW’s Big Bang went bust.

“Jamie Kellner and other higher ups at the company wanted to make TNT the drama network and they wanted TBS to focus on comedy and sports,” Styles said.

With WCW not fitting into either plan, Kellner and Siegel agreed to cancel Nitro and Thunder.

Bischoff got the call from a business partner at Fusient while on the beach. The deal was off and the signed letter of intent was voided because without the TV timeslot, the company was worth a small fraction of the original price.

“Once Jamie Kellner articulated what everyone was saying behind closed doors, which was, ‘we don’t want anything to do with wrestling in any way, shape or form,’ the deal with Turner had absolutely zero value to us,” Bischoff said.

At the time, TBS spokesman Jim Weiss said in The New York Times, “Basically we’ve decided that professional wrestling, in its current incarnation is not consistent with the upscale brands we’ve built at TNT and TBS. Therefore we will not be carrying it.”

It was heartbreakingly ironic that the TV timeslot killed the sale, because Bischoff never really wanted it in the deal anyway.

“Eric was really excited about taking over WCW, but I know he did not want to keep the show on Turner,” DDP said. “I remember, Eric at that time saying, ‘get them to give us three months and I will get another network to pay for the show.’ What network wants to buy a show that’s been cancelled?”

Eric Bischoff calls in to WCW Nitro to reveal his plan for the final night of the brand and to extend an invitation.

Two days later, World Champion Scott Steiner beat Page at WCW Greed on pay-per-view, while announcers continued to look at the future of WCW and the promising young talent like Kwee Wee and Jason Jett. The next night, though, Bischoff called into Nitro.

“Many of you may know that for the past six months, I’ve been working with a group of people whose goal it was — and is — to acquire World Championship Wrestling and to grow it once again to become a competitive, dominant wrestling organization worldwide,” Bischoff said with a defeated tone. “But recently we’ve hit a couple of roadblocks that may be, in fact, brick walls.”

He scheduled a “night of champions” for the following week’s Nitro in Panama City, Fla., and invited all former World Champions to appear, hinting that it could be the final night of wrestling on a Turner network. Now that the TV timeslot, supposedly a sticking point in WWE’s previous talks with Turner, was gone, WWE resumed negotiations. That Friday, WWE announced it had purchased WCW from AOL Time Warner for an undisclosed sum, but estimates had it around seven-figures.

Shane McMahon and WWE brass headed to Florida, for the final Nitro, which Mr. McMahon opened by announcing that he officially owned WCW. The Monday Night War was officially over.

When Bischoff looks back 15 years later, though, he can’t help but think WWE’s purchase was the healthiest move for the future of sports-entertainment.

“Had Fusient been successful in buying WCW, ultimately there would have been no one on that side of the equation, including me, that would have had the commitment to the business that Vince McMahon has had throughout the years,” Bischoff said.

May 6 ultimately came and nothing happened. The creation of a new WCW was forming in WWE, and the “big bang” didn’t occur until May 28, when WCW Superstar Lance Storm ran into a WWE ring and kicked WWE Superstar Perry Saturn in the face. Three weeks later, DDP joined him on Raw, as well as an influx of WCW Superstars as part of an Invasion.

As for Big Bang, Bischoff thinks it was a success.

“I did such a great job at creating anticipation, that people are still anticipating, to this day, the pay-per-view that never happened.”

And I only played a small handful of games for the Neo Geo Pocket Systems. And I only played 2 Turbo Grafix-16 games - Bonks Adventure and Bonk's Revenge. I'll be making a Misc list just for those SNK and NEC machines. Combined, I Should have enough to fill up a Top 10.

History of WCW - The Timeline

 I did one for WWE,so,now it's time I do one for the WCW.

Now, the following is an incomplete Timeline, but will cover most of the more important moments in the Company's history.

Well,let's get to it.

1944 - Georgia Championship Wrestling,the WCW's predecessor is formed.

19XX - GCW joins the National Wrestling Alliance aka The NWA.

1971 - In December, GCW begins it's first TV Show on the network that would eventually be known as Turner Broadcasting System aka TBS aka The Superstation.

1973 - GCW's secondary TV Show,World Wide Wrestling, debuts.

1982 - GCW renames it's Main TV Program,to World Championship Wrestling, in an effort to compete with the WWWF. It helped.

1983 - GCW is bought by Jerry and Jack Brisco. Starrcade makes it's debut as a Closed Circuit TV Special in November, under Jim Crockett Productions and the NWA.

1984 - The Brisco Bros sell their shares in GCW to Vince McMahon...and along with it,the Show's Time slot.

Soon,the infamous "Black Saturday" incident happens. Many GCW fans hated McMahon's style of Wrestling. Ole Anderson and 2 other guys refused to sell their shares to Vince McMahon and started their own promotion, Championship Wrestling from Georgia. 

TBS would acquire the rights to this Promotion, as well as Bill Watts' Mid-South Wrestling.

1985 - After failing to gather strong ratings, Vince McMahon sells his shares of WCW and it's name to Jim Crockett Productions, owned and operated by Jim Crockett Jr. 

Jim Crockett Jr. later fuses GCW, Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling, and Championship Wrestling from Georgia into the New WCW.

The Promotion's 3rd TV show, WCW Pro Wrestling, debuts in January. And The Great American Bash debuts as a Closed Circuit TV Special.

1986 - Jim Crockett Promotions held the first Jim Crockett Sr. Memorial Cup, which showcased talent from various NWA territories.

Bob Geigel would later become the NWA President once again,and would purchase Geigel's Heart of America Sports Attractions, promoters of the Central States territory, which owned the rights to promote wrestling shows through the states of Kansas, Missouri, and Iowa.

1987 - JCP would enter into an agreement to buyout Championship Wrestling from Florida and Universal Wrestling Federation (which covered Oklahoma, Mississippi, Arkansas, Texas and Louisiana. The Florida and Mid-South territories), Their Titles and Their Wrestlers. 

Jim Crockett Promotions now owned NWA St. Louis, the Universal Wrestling Federation, Mid-Atlantic, Central States Wrestling, Championship Wrestling from Georgia and Championship Wrestling from Florida as well. The New WCW was growing into a very strong promotion.

Later in the year,JCP became the last NWA member with a Nationwide TV Show. And though JCP and the NWA were still two separate legal entities, Jimmy Crockett was NWA President, so Jim Crockett Promotions was allowed to use the NWA brand for promoting.

The War Games Match is created by Dusty Rhodes. And In November, Starrcade debuts as a PPV.

WWF would answer Starrcade with the Survivor Series.

1988 - The next TV Show, NWA/WCW Main Event made it's debut in January.

The Clash of the Champions Yearly TV Special would debut in March (and against WrestleMania 4).

The Great American Bash debuts as a PPV.

Jim Crockett Promotions was purchased outright by Ted Turner in October.

Originally incorporated by TBS as the Universal Wrestling Corporation, Turner promised fans that WCW would maintain the athlete-oriented style of the NWA.

The sale was completed in November,and the Flagship Show (NWA WCW) aired the very same evening in WCW's hometown of Atlanta.

Starrcade airs for the first time under the NWA/WCW banner and moves back to December.

1989 - WCW Pay-Per-View, WrestleWar debuts in May. Later that Year in October, WCW would debut another new PPV in Halloween Havoc.

1990 - Starrcade '90 is the Final WCW PPV under the NWA banner.

1991 - Both WCW and the NWA recognized Ric Flair as their World Heavyweight Champion throughout most of the first half of 1991.However,the recently installed WCW president Jim Herd,turned against Flair for various reasons. Flair would be fired before The Great American Bash in July,after failed contract negotiations.

In the process, they officially stripped him of the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. The NWA/WCW refused to return the $25,000 deposit,The Nature Boy had put down on the physical belt, so he kept it and brought it with him when he was hired by the WWF at the request of Vince McMahon. 

WCW later renegotiated the use of the NWA name as a co-promotional gimmick with New Japan Pro-Wrestling and sued the WWF to stop showing Flair with the old NWA World Title belt on its programs, claiming a trademark on the physical design of the belt.

The belt was returned to WCW by Flair when Jim Herd was let go. Flair eventually received his deposit which with interest was over $38,000. It was brought back as the revived NWA World Heavyweight Championship.

The Superbrawl PPV debuted in May. 

WrestleWar '91 became the first PPV solely under WCW alone.

1992 - Herd was fired in January and was succeeded by Kip Allen Frey.

Frey's tenure running WCW was brief, and he would be replaced later in the year by "Cowboy" Bill Watts, who had formerly been the promoter for Mid-South Wrestling (later known as the Universal Wrestling Federation) and was the first head executive of WCW to have prior experience in the wrestling business since Jim Crockett left.

Watts would controversially make top rope moves illegal during wrestling matches among other changes.

After clashes with management over a number of issues (both major and minor), He was replaced by Eric Bischoff.

WCW's TV show is renamed to WCW Saturday Night in April.

Beach Blast,the next WCW PPV, debuted in July.

And NWA/WCW WorldWide Wrestling is renamed to WCW WorldWide.

1993 - After many failed Presidents,Commentator Eric Bischoff was promoted to the Vice-Presidency of WCW. 

The Slamberee, Fall Brawl War Games, and BattleBowl PPV's would debut in May, September, and November respectively.

Due to a dispute, the WCW and NWA would part ways in September. WCW still legally owned and used the actual belt which represented the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, however,they could no longer use the NWA name.

The title thus became known as the WCW International World Heavyweight Championship,sanctioned by fictitious subsidiary WCW International.  WCW claimed that WCW International still recognized the belt as a legitimate World Championship.

For a short while, there were essentially two world titles up for competition in the organization, with Sting winning the WCW International title, while Flair captured the WCW World Heavyweight Championship from Big Van Vader.

Later in the year,Paul E. Dangerously would leave WCW to form ECW (extreme championship wrestling).

1994 - The Spring Stampede PPV debuted in February. 

In June,The WCW World Heavyweight Championship and the WCW International World Championship would be Unified,after Ric Flair (the wcw world champion) defeated Sting (the wcw international champion) in a Title Unification Match. 

In the Early Summer,WCW would acquire the Biggest Name in Wrestling - Hulk Hogan.

Beach Blast is renamed to Bash at the Beach.

WCW/NWA Pro Wrestling becomes WCW Pro later in the year.

In December,WCW would acquire the 2nd Biggest Name in Wrestling - "Macho Man" Randy Savage.

1995 - WCW Prime debuts in January.

The Next WCW PPV, Uncensored,would debut in February. 

To combat the WWF's Monday Night Raw, WCW unleashed WCW Monday Nitro in September on TNT (turner network television). The Opening Salvo has been fired! The Monday Night War would officially begin. 

Not too long after the debut of Nitro,WCW would introduce the Cruiserweight Division. This division would properly introduce American Wrestling Fans to Lucha Libre (mexican wrestling) and Puroresu (japanese wrestling).

The Next New PPV, World War 3, would make it's debut November,replacing BattleBowl. 

On a Nitro in December, Medusa Macelli aka Alundra Blayze,would make her return to WCW and infamously dump the WWF Women's Championship in a trash pail.

WCW would soon launch it's Women's division.

1996 - WCW Prime ends in January.  

In Late May, things would begin to change forever. Scott Hall,who worked as Razor Ramon in the WWF just a week prior,appeared on Nitro to declare War on WCW and Ted Turner. Weeks later,he would bring in Kevin "Diesel" Nash,and the The 2 would issue a challenge to WCW. 

The Outsider invasion begins and it would help the WCW gain momentum against the WWF.

Weeks later, Lex Luger, Sting,and the "Macho Man" Randy Savage were chosen to battle the 2 Outsiders and their surprise partner at Bash at the Beach.  

WWF and Vince McMahon would Sue Turner and WCW for Copyright infringement,due to Scott Hall sometimes using his Razor Ramon gimmick,which was owned by the WWF. The 2 sides came to an out of court settlement and Scott Hall never used his Razor Ramon persona again.

As part of the settlement,WWF would be allowed to buy WCW, should the promotion be up for sale.

At Bash at the Beach, Hulk Hogan shocked the World by revealing himself to be the Outsiders Mystery Partner. The nWo was formed that night.

Thanks to Bash at the Beach '96 and it's build, for the first time,WCW would Beat the WWF in the Pay-Per-View War. This trend would continue,until January of '98.

Thanks to the nWo Saga, the WCW would dominate in ratings and became the #1 Wrestling Promotion in the World....until 1998,that is. 

In August,WCW would create a Pay-Per-View themed around a Motorcycle Rally. This show would be called Hog Wild.

The nWo gains more members, Including WCW VP Eric Bischoff.

Sting would begin to undergo a transformation..from a Colorful Superhero to a Dark Avenger. 

Plus, later in the year, Time Warner buys out Turner Broadcasting.

1997 - In January, the nWo would introduce their own Pay-Per-View, nWo Souled Out.

The nWo adds even more new members. By Early 1998,it gets bloated. 

Later in the year, Bill Goldberg debuts and would go undefeated until Starrcade '98

Sting would make his presence noted and begins antagonizing the nWo. He would eventually gets his Title shot against WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Hollywood Hulk Hogan,at Starrcade. 

The August Pay-Per-View, Hog Wild,is renamed to Road Wild. All thanks to a dispute with the Harley Davidson company, who owned the term "Hog".

Also in August, the WCW would air the Final Clash of the Champions TV Special.

After the Montreal Screwjob, Bret "Hit Man" Hart,Wrestling's #3 Guy would join WCW in December. 

Due to RAW being taped a week in advance and Nitro remaining Live, Ravishing Rick Rude was able to appear on Both RAW and Nitro on the same night. Rude departed the WWF, due to a Contract dispute,and signed with WCW a few days later.

1998 - Thunder debuts in January on TBS and becomes the new B-Show. Also in January, WCW Main Event would end its run.

nWo Souled Out becomes WCW/nWo Souled Out and would be the first in the (stupidly) duel-branded Pay-Per-View's. This theme is extended to the TV Shows too.

So from January of '98 to Early '99, every WCW Show and Event would be titled WCW/nWo (show/event name).

For the first time since '96, the WCW would be crushed in the Pay-Per-View War by WWF's Royal Rumble '98. Souled Out was Played Out and the Royal Rumble was really good..especially the Royal Rumble Match itself.

And,per the norm,the nWo would continue to add members to its ranks. Something people got sick of. 

Due to an internal conflict between Kevin Nash and Hollywood Hogan, the nWo would break off into 2 Factions - nWo Hollywood (lead by Hogan) and nWo Wolfpac (lead by Nash). This did Not help WCW against the WWF, as many were sick of the nWo and wanted the company to move on.

The 3-way war between the WCW, nWo Hollywood, and the nWo Wolfpac would begin. But would be all in vain thanks to the Austin v. McMahon Saga that was going on in the WWF.

Sometime in the year,WCW would end it's Womens Division.

WCW Pro ended in September.

Goldberg's winning streak would come to a (questionable) end at the hands of Kevin Nash at Sttarcade '98 in December.

1999 - In January, things started to go south for the company.

On The first Nitro of '99, Tony Schiavone's WWF Raw spoiler backfires and over half the fans watching at home tuned into Raw to see Mick Foley win the WWF Championship from the Rock.

And to make matters worse for WCW, when the fans tuned back to Nitro,they were greeted by Nash v. Hogan and the Infamous 'Fingerpoke of Doom' The nWo reunited after the match and were whole again and the Fans Hated it. 

Thanks to that episode of Nitro, most Wrestling fans lost faith in WCW's product and migrated to the WWF full time. Soon, the Monday Night War would become completely one-sided in WWF's favor.

Souled Out '99 would be the Final PPV with the WCW/nWo branding. 

The nWo would dissolve in the spring. 

Sometime in the Year, WCW would create a Hardcore Division, in an attempt to lure ECW fans to WCW.

In September, Turner Sports fired Eric Bischoff and replaced him with, WCW Vice President of Strategic Planning, Bill Busch. Busch was named Senior Vice President (handling the creative and day-to-day operations with Brad Siegel).  

Fall Brawl '99 would be the penultimate edition of the Event. And it was without the traditional War Games Match, which had been a staple for the event since 1993.

In October, WCW would hire former WWF Creative Head, Vince Russo, in an attempt to save themselves. Unfortunately for them,the Opposite effect happened and Russo ended up making things worse.

Novembers Event,World War 3, is replaced by Mayhem. 

In late December, nWo 2000 would form under Kevin Nash. Thankfully, it was short lived.

2000 - WCW would experience it's Absolute Worst Year Ever! Mostly thanks to Vince Russo's garbage booking and even worse creative decisions.

In Feburary, AOL announced that it would be purchasing Time Warner and the sale would be complete the following year. Later,Time Warner decided that WCW was a liability and wanted to get rid of it.

In April, Eric Bischoff was rehired and reluctantly worked with Vince Russo to save WCW. They never even came close to it.

After getting rehired and finding out about Time Warner's intentions to get rid of WCW, Eric Bischoff stepped in and offered to buy the company. After some back and forth,Time Warner agreed to let Bischoff buy WCW, provided he get some good investors. It took months, but Easy E found his investors - Fusient Media Ventures. 

To gather more support and win back the fans, WCW began a new Saga - The New Blood Saga. In this Saga, the hungry Young Talent,known as the New Blood, would face off against the Evil Millionaires Club,made up of a group of Wrestling Veterans.

It backfired. The New Blood was unlikable and were booed,while the Millionaires Club,who were supposed to be the Heels, were cheered. The Saga ended as quickly as it began.

In July 2000, Eric Bischoff would make his Last On-Air appearance at Bash at the Beach.

August's Road Wild Event was replaced by New Blood Rising. Also in August, WCW Saturday Night ended its run.

Like with the previous year, Fall Brawl went without a War Games match.

Later in the year,Vince Russo would depart from WCW, but the damage had already been done.

2001 - In January,Souled Out is replaced by Sin. 

Also in January, Eric Bischoff and his new partners,Fusient Media Ventures, placed a conference call announcing their purchase of WCW.

A few days later, AOL and Time Warner merged. The Higher-Ups were still unimpressed by WCW.

In February, Superbrawl is replaced by Revenge. And in March, Unsensored is replaced by Greed.

In Early March, WCW magazine announced a New WCW event that would relaunch the Company under Eric Bischoff and Fusient Media Ventures. It was called WCW Big Bang and it would've been the birth of a New WCW. The event would've been held in May.

After some convincing from outside sources, AOL/Time Warner decided to can all WCW Shows.

With no Network to air WCW, Fusient decided to pull out of the deal and Vince McMahon swooped in and bought the company.

In Late March, WCW was bought by Vince McMahon and held it's final Nitro in Panama City Beach,FL. The Monday Night War was over, The World Wrestling Federation had won. 

In Early April,WCW WorldWide would air for the final time and would be the last of the WCW programs.

And soon after,WWF would showcase WCW Wrestling on RAW and Smackdown. But,thanks to a few factors,WCWWF was a flop.

Top 20 Underrated Animated Shows

Thundercats,The Real Ghostbusters, Ducktales, Batman:The Animated Series,Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,The Simpsons,The PowerPuff Girls,Garfield and Friends,Gravity Falls. What do all of these shows have in common? They are all well known and well beloved.

.....And because of that,they can't be on this list.

This list will comprise of 20 of the most underrated animated gems,including shows that aren't that well known.

This Is The List of Underrated Gems!

Honorable Mention - Thundarr The Barbarian: Sure you may call this 80's classic a He-Man rip-off,but this show is very different from Masters of the Universe. The action scenes and animation are superior too. Even though the show was short lived,it remains an underrated classic to this day.

Honorable Mention - SkySurfer Strike Force: This hidden gem was an American Henshin Hero show with a cool attitude. This was Ruby-Spears Productions Final Animated Series before going belly-up.

#20 - The Tick: While popular back in the day,this fun show has been largely forgotten nowadays. The show's absurdist humor and hero parodies make this show a joy to watch. Spoooooooon!

#19 - Silverhawks: This show makes the list because it's always in the shadow of Thundercats. In it's own right,Silverhawks is just as fun to watch as Thundercats. The characters are cool and the action is great. Partly Metal,Partly Real,All Awesome!

#18 - The Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers: An Anime-ish show from the 80's with a great story and plenty of awesome action. It was also the 1st "kids" cartoon not to sugarcoat death. No Guts,No Glory!

#17 - Bionic Six: Another cool anime-ish show from the 80's and one that's way too tough to find on Youtube. I doubt they have this show on DVD or Blu-ray. Bionic Six is a fun show with great action scenes and a decent story. The animation is awesome too. Bionics On,Super Future Family!

#16 - Men In Black: The Series: Everyone knows the M.I.B.,but very few knew that they had an Animated Series. Agent J and Agent K in animated form are just as good as(maybe even better than) their live action counterparts. All the freaky and kooky aliens the M.I.B meet make this show a great watch. The Worms,however,make this show a Can't Miss. The M.I.B,saving the Earth from the scum of the Universe!

#15 - Dan Vs.: A modern underrated gem that Nikki Reed and Henry Schleiff would love everyone to forget. Dan Vs. is about a guy named Dan raging against the many things that annoy him most. It's a fun show with likable characters,so give this series a shot. Plus,it's made with adults in mind,but still ok for older kids to watch.

#14 - Max Steel (the original series): This show has been long forgotten since it aired on KidsWB all those years ago. It was the blocks 1st CGI animated series and one that was awesome. The show later was picked up by Cartoon Network,but was dropped a year later. Going Turbo!

#13 - Dr. Katz: Professional Therapist: Another adult sitcom that's (mostly) safe for older kids to watch. This show is about a therapist that helps comedians with their problems. This is yet another fun show that has been forgotten. Thankfully,unlike most shows on this list,you can find this series on DVD. The Doctor Is In!

#12 - The Critic: A funny animated sitcom that lived its life in the shadow of the Simpsons. Jay Shermen is a movie critic that reviews movies and often times gives them a bad review. Outside of work,He is a single parent living in Hollywood and is best known for his signature catchphrase: "It Stinks!" Another fun show made for adults that older kids can watch. It Stinks? I Think Not!

#11 - W.I.T.C.H.: One of the very few Underrated Animated Gems from Disney. The Anime-ish style,fun characters,and near-engaging story make this show a true animated gem. Guardians Unite!

#10 - Hi! Hi! Puffy Ami Yumi: An animated show based on J-Rock group,Puffy. This was Cartoon Network's tribute to Anime. This long-forgotten animated gem was one of Cartoon Network's last good shows. Even more sad....Only a Small Handful Of Episodes Made It To DVD!! *facepalm*

#9 - Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego: One of the most underrated shows on the Fox Kids Block. Carmen Sandiego may have had educational stuff in it,but it was much more than Edutainment. It was an Adventure Show first and foremost. This was a fun watch and if you can find this series on DVD,by all means buy it.

#8 - The Bots Master: Another show with Anime influence. This one comes from the early 90's. It's about a cool guy and his Bots (called boyz) battling an evil corporation and their robots. This show was action pact and a delight to watch on Sunday Mornings. It's Laser Time,Boyz!

#7 - Mummies Alive:One of the Final good shows from DiC. Mummies Alive is yet another Sunday Morning gem that people tend to forget about. If you like Action Cartoons and Mummies,this series has them both in spades..with a little Sentai thrown in. Let's Kick Tut!

#6 - Bravestarr: In New Texas,Marshal Bravestarr,a lawman with great powers,battles a host of vicious outlaws. This Show Is Great. It combines Westerns,Sci-Fi,and Super Heroes all in one show. Plus,Bravestarr is one of the very first Native American Super Heroes! All brought to you by our friends at Filmation. Eye Of The Hawk! Ears Of The Wolf! Strength Of The Bear! Speed Of The Puma! Bravestarr is Awesome!

#5 - Histeria: A show about history.....done in a very comedic matter. I used to love watching this show every afternoon on KidsWB. But,in recent times,many have forgotten this series. Such a shame,as it's one of the most entertaining cartoons that Warner Bros. has ever produced. If you have a chance to find this show,watch it.

#4 - The Big Guy and Rusty: Yet another show that pays homage to various Robot Anime,with Rusty being an obvious nod to Astro Boy. The show aired on Fox Kids for 2 seasons,but soon after,it was never aired again. The show was a fun one and it's a shame this series never made it to DVD. Sony owns the rights to this series I think.

#3 - The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest: An awesome 90's take on the classic Hannah-Barbera series. Despite being on Cartoon Network many times during it's golden days,It's never thought about anymore. To make matters worse,the series is very tough to find on DVD. If you do find both seasons on DVD,consider yourself lucky.

#2 - Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters: Another show that has been tossed away in the trash by Henry Schleff when he turned The Hub into Discovery Family. Kaijudo is an American remake of the Anime Duel Masters and a great one. The show lasted for 2 seasons and was taken off the air almost immediately after the final episode (thanks to that idiot nikki reed). This show deserved post-series reruns.

#1 - The Centurions: This was one of the most underrated shows ever. Not only is this series innovative (for the time),but it provides some of the best art and animation of the 80's. The action scenes are top notch too (by 80's cartoon standards,at least). Power X-treme!
